I think the way young artists in the West are drawn to the simplistic style of manga/anime without the professional training those artists have is cluttering up the medium. It's making sketch art too homogeneous and limiting the style variation that new artists should have instead of letting their art skills bloom naturally (rather than imitating a popular style).
